Why Media59?

Well, personally I feel that 1959 was a good year.  Besides being the year of my harvest (Vintage)… Thanks Mom. Here are just a few other things that happened… Alaska admitted as 49th US state, “Bozo the Clown” live children’s show premieres on TV, “Rawhide” with Clint Eastwood premieres on CBS TV, USAF concludes less than 1% of UFO’s are unknown objects,1st transcontinental commercial jet flight (American) (LA to NY for $301), Walt Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” released, Texas Instruments requests patent of IC (Integrated Circuit), Barbie doll goes on sale, “Raisin in the Sun,” 1st Broadway play by a black woman, opens, “Some Like it Hot” with Marilyn Monroe & Jack Lemmon premieres, Oklahoma ends prohibition, after 51 years, 1st Grammy Awards: Perry Como & Ella Fitzgerald win, Elvis Some like it hotPresley’s 1st entry on UK charts with “Heartbreak Hotel”, Japanese-Americans regain their citizenship, Presbyterian church accepts women preachers, Monkeys Able & Baker zoom 300 mi (500 km) into space on Jupiter missile, became 1st animals retrieved from a space mission, 1st telecast transmitted from England to US, Hawaii becomes 50th US state, “Bonanza” premieres on NBC-TV, Nikita Khrushchev is denied access to Disneyland, Pan Am begins regular flights around World, Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, opens (NYC), 1st episode of “Rocky & His Friends” airs, “Sound of Music” opens at Lunt Fontanne Theater NYC for 1443 performances, 1st color photograph of Earth from outer space. Oh, and let’s not forget about the media part. Well, pod-casting, video-casting, social media are all a part of today’s new media world… So I hope this helps you to understand the why.

So, after living in Santa Barbara for 30 years I’ve recently relocated to Cloverdale, in Sonoma County… surrounded by grapes in all directions and where a few miles north, the 101 is just a 2 lane road.
